I have been through many hardships during this recession. As a single mother over fifty years old,I have lost my job, my home, and I still somehow kept my family together. I work many low paying jobs to keep a roof over my childrens heads and food in their mouths. I did this by hardwork and not negotiating my values. I call that an accomplishment.

My children are my greatest accomplishment. They are all gracious, giving, loving, and the first ones to jump up and say, "let me help" or "I can do that for you", and I know it is because of they way they were raised. I believe they can do anything. Everyone tells my husband and I how special all of our kids are, and I believe if you can raise 5 kids in this world of ours and have them all be like that, I have accomplished the greatest thing in my life.

I would say that surviving the untimely death of my spouse is my greatest accomplishment. I found myself alone, with 3 small sets of eyes looking up at me, powerless to change what had happened. Knowing that our business died with my husband, that I had no way to keep our house, and had children to support was devistating. Yet I somehow managed to pick myself up and find solutions to the problems. In just 2 short months my family and I were safe, sheltered, fed and clothed with out any use of or need for charity.

To have an idea, then take that idea and create a successful business is a great accomplishment. I had to totally remodel the building I was leasing, which meant drawing plans, getting permits and working with contractors. Once I had the building the way I needed it to be, I had to work with food and beverage vendors to get in good quality products to sell. The 3rd phase of the project was to test and purchase the network and PC equipment necessary for a successful gaming center. Then of course to install all the necessary equipment and software. Followed by setting up security and then billing systems. This endeavor was very gratifying to me.

I am going to focus on one achievement as being the most pertinent. The Human Resource Manager asked me to manage the payroll department because the current employee was not able to keep up with the demand, even though she was working 50-60 hours a week and had two part-time assistant. I did some research and redesign of the department layout so that the payroll staff and employees were working in a more efficient sequence. It worked so well, increasing production by up to 20 percent, reduce the hours to 40 a week, reduce paperwork, created a positive repo with the labor unions and part-time staff, generated reports to the HR Manager and kept him in the loop of progress and assisted with other department within HR.

My greatest accomplishment is my relationship with my young adult children. I am no longer just an authoritative figure; I am their best friend and confidant; someone that they respect and trust. They know that I will not lead them down the wrong path. They seek-out my counsel before they make a final decision. I neither walk in-front of them nor behind them, but by their side. Yes, that is my greatest accomplishment ever!

I'm severely hearing impaired; I wasn't born this way, but I've accepted/embraced it. I have never let any challenge, obstacle, or speed bump stop me. I got to where I am today without any shortcuts. Everything I've done has been the same way as any other person. Most people who meet me don't notice my disability right off that bat, which allows me to know I am where I am today because I earned it.

There are two areas that I count as my greatest accomplishments, one in the personnel area and the other in the technical. First, I had to do one of the hardest things a leader ever has to do; tell a team member that they need to rethink their career choice. My team member wanted to be a programmer, yet after a year's hard effort on her part it was clear that she could not do it. She changed course and became a highly successful Project Manager, with completion of the PM certification program at UC Berkeley. The other was to lead my application team to meet the mandated order that we bring our financial reporting up from a SOX-compliance rating of Level 4 to Level 2 which saved our CEO and CFO from having to explain the lack of integrity in our financial reporting plue the other consequences of not being able to sign-off on our numbers.

I would say my greatest accomplishment is developing an understanding of the cost factors involved with a business being profitable. Understanding this has made me cost conscience in planning budgets and scheduling purchases throughout the year. It has also help me to become a better negotiator with my vendors to get the most cost savings for the projects my company needs to accomplish.

As a geophysicist, I was directed to pick a drillsite in a specific block a couple of miles from the nearest well. All available seismic was pretty old and from a variety of sources. Thorough analysis enabled me to identify a trend in the data which had the character of an especially thick sand at about 18,000'. The well found a record sand thickness for the Anadarko Basin with well which tested at 20 million cubic feet of gas per day. Subsequently, a number of additional wells were drilled proving this trend.

My greatest accomplishment has nothing to do with anything I have ever accomplished on a job. It would be my children, being there for them and loving them througout an abusive marriage, protecting them from harm. They have grown to be very positive with a strong sense of justice and love of life.

My greatest accomplishment has been trapping, neutering and releasing 14 (11 female) feral cats who lived outside of a building where I worked. The cats were neutered in 1999 and fed every day. Now there is only one cat still alive; the cats did not reproduce and there are much less homeless cats than there would have been. Greatest work accomplishment is being able to get every project successfully completed before or by the due date.

First there was me and now us three - it's an awesome achievement and I'm glad to be able to share my story in spite of the stigma associated with alcoholism and addictions.

I have raised 2 children who are very independent and also know the value of money. I would take one out of school on a payday and cash my check. Hand my check to them and have that child place money in the envelope for the bill. When most bills were paid the child would say "Mom you only have $20 or 30$$ left" Honey that is car gas for the next 2 weeks. So you only work to pay bills. Yes... I want better for you get a college education and be several steps above me so you wont have to live pay to pay. This was a hard lesson for every one in my house to learn. WE DID... Now my baby just graduated High School and is on their way to college along side the first born.
