A well funded technology laboratory in the process of developing a large cross platform, networked software application for an Internet service that will deliver rich multimedia capabilities to millions of users using a combination of bespoke client applications and 3rd party web browsers is in need of a Sr. Technology Architect to head up the overall design of the client application, network services and servers. This position will be virtual in nature, you can work from home anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities:

- Overall design of client application, network services, and servers.
- Partitioning design into modules
- Monitoring development of modules
- Resolving integration issues

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of software design for client applications and of designing and developing large scale Internet services. Will take the lead design role for a large cross-platform, networked software application, as well as the lead design role for an Internet service that will deliver rich multimedia capabilities to millions of users using a combination of bespoke client applications and 3rd party web browsers. The successful candidate will be expected to show how he/she has succeeded in delivering solutions to technically challenging problems with innovative and efficient solutions.

Required Skill Set:

- Expert level experience in high level design (network and client apps)
- Expert level experience of server based application design
- Ability to translate a Requirements Specification into a successful working design
- Ability to partition high level design into independent components and oversee the development of these components from a technical perspective.
- Ability to write accurate and effective design documents
- Ability to present technical information to clients, customers, and developers, using the appropriate level of detail
- Ability to deliver robust, scalable, architectures capable of supporting large traffic volumes
- Experience with User Interface Design

Desired Skills:

- Experience with network based services and their implementation
- VOIP
- Real-time software development
- UML

Essential Technologies:

- Minimum 5 years C++
- Minimum 5 years Java
- Minimum 5 years software development for Windows XP/Vista platform
- Minimum 5 years Unix/Linux software development
- MySQL/SQL
- Apache
