Senior SQL DBA - CT-SSQLTRD in Chicago, IL 60606

Prestigious trading firm located in Chicago's Loop is currently seeking a Senior SQL DBA.

Responsibilities:
Manage all development and production database Servers
Manage database backups and ensure that Corporate Disaster Recovery and Data Retention protocols are adhered to
Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements
Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues and conduct database transaction audits
Manage security at all levels of SQL Server
Design, manage and implement database maintenance plans
Develop and maintain live snapshots for development, QA and UAT
Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems and work with development teams on data sizing
Work with the application support/development teams for database upgrades and releases
Active in all hardware decisions for new Servers; and any technology upgrades
Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, and standards in support of development efforts
Participate in documentation process
Responsible for completing other work requirements or tasks that are requested by management when necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the department or company
Reports to the Senior DBA; works closely with Development DBA team

Experience and Skills:
5 years of database administration experience, preferably in a financial environment (bank, hedge fund, trading firm, etc)
Hands-on SQL Server 2000/2005 administration, database tuning and troubleshooting experience; must have strong knowledge of all the standard SQL Server tools
Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices; Must have strong SQL, T-SQL, and DTS package skills
Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2000/2003; good Active Directory knowledge
Some knowledge of Linux/Unix and the cross platform issues involved in access
Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices
Strong knowledge in at least one language (Scripting or otherwise)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Excellent documentation and knowledge management skills
SAN and DB replication experience is a plus
SQL DBA Excellent Communication Skills.
