We are seeking an exceptional Senior Linux Systems Engineer. The right candidate will be passionate about technology, and be interested in building and scaling a web service on a global basis.

Responsibilities

Build, scale, troubleshoot and maintain our clients service platform.
Manage all levels of our service platform, from the data center on up.
Work with our agile development organization to fine-tune and enhance our web service for optimal performance, and fix it when it breaks.
Act as a technical resource to other teams and management to help guide the growth and direction of our client.
Write tools that will allow our service to scale by automating routine production workflows, and collect data about the production environment for use in capacity planning and troubleshooting.
Monitor the health of our production systems using primarily open-source and in-house tools.
Be part of a 24x7 on-call pager rotation.

Experience Required

Qualifications

Linux/Unix expert, Expert troubleshooter
Expert sysadmin., Experience scripting for systems automation tasks (at least shell).
Strong CS fundamentals
Extensive experience using open-source tools to manage installations
Extensive experience setting up, operating and scaling a large number of servers (100+) and services in a largely automated and repeatable way. Must have tackled: Configuration management, Monitoring/Alerting, Application deployment, Server deployment, Systems Automation.
Ability to work at all levels of the service platform (data center/network/servers/application)
Eager to work in a fast-paced, team-centric environment, Resourceful problem solver,
Strongly Preferred

• Familiar with web application architectures and the role of systems engineering in supporting and enhancing them; SOA / SaaS.
• Direct experience with cfengine, nagios, cacti, kickstart/netboot, func.
• Direct experience with CentOS, Java, Tomcat, Oracle, MySQL.
• Experience with networking (BGP/OSPF). Juniper experience. Foundry experience.
• Advanced/Expert in (PHP/Perl/Python), with a focus on common systems administration, task automation, and monitoring.
• Experience and desire to work using the Scrum framework
• Large scale and distributed storage systems.
• Multi-site and/or multi-national infrastructure deployments
