SUMMARY:


The Data Center Lead Engineer is required to manage the infrastructure at all layers of technology for the assigned region. This will require the Engineer to have a broad understanding of and background in Data Center operations, knowledge of HVAC and power management for lights out operations. The ideal candidate must be a strong lead , with a proven track record to deliver enterprise solutions by partnering with other business users.




RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Data Center Lead Engineer will lead in the design, development, consolidation and build-out of the firm's Data Centers. This consists of maintaining existing co-located and in house Data Centers


Develop and implement Data Center strategy and support existing production environment at each Data Center


Provide daily direction regarding data center operational procedures and technologies


Provide ongoing technical and leadership expertise in supporting the Data Centers, including growth and scalability requirements


Provide high-level vendor management and assist in vendor selections


Establish standards for Engineering Data Centers, including, power and capacity planning, lights out operations, Data Centers equipment inventory


Serve as a Data Center liaison with Applications teams and Management, Network, Engineering and Facilities groups


Development of a Data Center SOP documentation and process, including emergency response, and physical security management


Data Centers outsourcing management


Data Centers stack & rack services including, equipment EOL process, Data Center Jumpstart Services - Data Centers SOP Documentation


Responsible for notifying and coordinating projects directly affecting business users


Enforce strict Change Management policies regarding productions changes


Must be a consistent participant in weekly Change Control/Management (CM) meetings


Responsible to assist in creating and enforcing technology standards for production related systems


Responsible to create and sustain consistency in regards to production IT services. This includes remaining synchronized with other regions whenever possible


Create and validate monthly reports regarding the current and future state of all business critical IT systems within the region, ensuring compliance with global policies


Responsible for monitoring and alerting of all business critical technical systems


Responsible for notifying and escalating to senior IT management regarding all data center and computing facility incidents


Create and maintain an operational run book, showing all business critical production systems, including but not limited to the following information:


o Service hours and maintenance windows


o Site Recovery procedures


o Escalation procedures as they pertain to the Configuration Management Database


o High availability and fail over procedures as they pertain to the Configuration Management Database


o Architectural diagrams and elevations


Is required to follow proper quality assurance procedures regarding releasing any and all technical changes into production


Manage vendor and outsourcing relationships


Assist in implementing proper ITIL service methodologies including but not limited to, incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.


Establishes a professional working relationship with other team members and management staff




REQUIRED SKILLS:


5 years of experience in Information Technology in direct support of multiple Data Centers hosting enterprise class environments


5 years of information technology experience supporting enterprise class environments


Solid knowledge of HVAC and power requirements for highly available Data Centers.


Understanding of Lights Out concepts of Data Center operations.


Familiarity with SAN and NAS requirements in a production Data Center


Strong organization and communication skills; must clearly communicate production related, technical issues and resolutions to customer/clients, other departments and senior management


Backup and recovery experience using best practice standards supporting SAN/NAS environments


High level understanding of SAN switch requirements, TCP/IP, troubleshooting network problems with LAN connectivity


Quality training (Six Sigma, TQM, ISO or other) preferred, contract negotiations training desirable


Must fully understand proper technology services following ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) methodologies


Experience with Linux, Solaris, Windows and enterprise class Servers


The candidate must have excellent conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.


In depth understanding of Operating Systems, Trading/Market Applications and data flow dependencies between applications across regions


Must be able to establish effective professional business relationships with all levels of management


Experience in leading both, direct and contracted, technical support resources


Formal process design and implementation experience


Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and drive completion of deliverables


Establish and maintain an environment conducive to team building and cross departmental communications


Must be able to govern regional IT initiatives to ensure that all process and procedures are executed following company policies and standards


Must possess strong writing and documentation skills


Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience


Provide technical direction and leadership and act as an escalation point for all design and operational related issues regarding data centers and computing facilities


Ability to translate business requirements and needs to valuable technological initiatives


Identify and provide problem resolution for infrastructure inefficiencies and allow for the prevention of reoccurring issues with long-term, end-to-end solutions


Must be accustomed to responding quickly and in a controlled manner to emergencies


Skilled in troubleshooting issues in high pressure, business critical production environments.


Previous experience in a high-pressure environments in the financial sector
