Summary of Job Function:

Supports the development of individuals, teams and work initiatives. Provides the business direction of the assigned work components for a product, platform or project. Negotiates with stakeholders to determine scope and budget of work activities which advance TSYS business objectives and client needs. Builds and maintains client relationships.

Essential Responsibilities:

Work initiatives are typically average in nature, pose moderate to significant risk and complexity, require periodic direction and considerable analysis/interpretation of data, and encompass a broad range of contact interaction. Specifically, an Associate Project Director’s responsibilities include:

1. Organizes and directs members of his/her team through matrix or direct management. Supervises no more than two team members. Plans, implements, controls, and reports an implementation completion within the specific goals of building and delivering that particular venture, product, or project(s). Ensures the customer is satisfied with the plan, scope, schedule, cost and quality of the venture, product, or project(s).

2. Leads team assembled to support the venture, product, or project. Team consists of supporting peers and team members across departments and/or divisions.

3. Serves as the primary catalyst for defining and shaping a progressive, productive and profitable culture across an implementation. May require travel and irregular work hours.

4. Ensures product/project scope and requirements information is documented and approved.

5. Directs the creation, approval, monitoring and updating of project plans using assigned resources.

6. Ensures tracking and problem management for the project implementation. Uses metrics to forewarn of problems and to measure progress. Ensures identification, logging and resolution of critical problems, tasks and decisions. Ensures the timely and accurate internal and external communication of status, including risk assessment information. May plan and execute scheduled program updates with client, where appropriate. Ensures the project’s highest priorities (risks) receive the appropriate attention. Acts as a catalyst/facilitator in the resolution of project problems and conflicts; escalates when necessary. Manages to an acceptable level of risk by balancing scope, time, cost and quality.

7. Reviews client deliverables for accuracy, pricing, and timeliness. Gathers project billing for approval in accordance with client contracts and department standards. Creates, manages, and/or reports the project budget for FTE, travel, and all other revenue and expenses.

8. Uses applicable project management tools to ensure acceptable project management or methodology practices are defined and followed. Performs a lead role in identifying, defining, measuring and refining practices and processes.

9. Ensures key roles and responsibilities are defined, where appropriate. Empowers others and encourages decision making at the lowest level reasonable. Ensures the client’s needs are appropriately represented. Tracks and/or identifies those points in the project when approval is required and by whom. Defines the escalation process to be used.

10. Works at developing and maintaining good working relationships with all persons and groups associated with the project. Pursues and encourages good working relationships among all team members and groups. Practices, teaches and encourages the desired work behaviors across the team.

11. Ensures and/or monitors the proper change control of key project assets: scope, requirements, project plan, product specifications, contracts, product code and documentation, etc.

12. Ensures key project documentation is preserved and can be retrieved for audit, review and legal purposes.

13. Assesses strengths and weaknesses upon completion and applies lessons learned to new initiatives.

14. Leads project team, where appropriate. Provides direction to team members and/or projects. Monitors success of project and/or performance of team members and provides input, when necessary, to their RIGHT STEPS. Teaches skills to help team members increase their effectiveness.
